Donate: Shopping with the sheriff

We invite you to make an impact together in the lives of children in Broward County!

The Broward Sheriff’s Advisory Council, in partnership with the Sheriff’s Foundation, will fund and host the Shopping with the Sheriff event on Wednesday, December 14th. Together, we will provide 200 elementary-age children from 40 different Broward County Schools with a $200 tax-exempt shopping spree at Walmart. Yes, they will be able to spend the full $200! Five students from each school will be hand-selected by their school’s School Resource Officer so that the most deserving and needing of this wonderful holiday experience get picked. In addition to receiving the $200, they will also receive a toiletry bag, and have the opportunity to meet and have their photo taken with Santa. They will also get to meet and greet Sheriff Tony and Undersheriff Anderson.

Children will be bussed from their school to Walmart at 8:30 am, and each child will have an individual chaperon that will walk around the store with them, calculating their items until they reach their $200 spending limit. Once the children are done shopping, they will be driven back to school in time for lunch, and their School Resource Officer will drop their gifts off at their homes.

How can you help?

1-- Two hundred kids means we need volunteers as shopping chaperones. Volunteers need to arrive by 8:00 am and stay through the end of the shopping experience.

2-- Our funding goal is $20,000, and any size donation would be greatly appreciated to help bring some joy to these children.

Thank you!
